The Windy City

Way back in June I got to go on a quick jaunt to Chicago for work.  The work part was pretty boring and made me happy not to be on the "behind the scenes" side of pharmaceutical research!  There was a dinner one night at the Zhou B Art Center, a modern art museum.

Gotta say, it was interesting but I'm not sure I understood most of it!

Either way, it was a nice dinner with nice wine, so win-win in my book :)  The next day I had about 10 hours to explore and enjoy the city.  First I walked up the Magnificent Mile to Oak Street Beach.

Then I headed over to the Lincoln Park and the Zoo, which has free admission!

Seeing the animals in the zoo actually just made me really sad, so I took a picture with my statue gorilla friend instead of the real animals...

After all that walking, I was ready for some deep dish pizza!  I went to Pizzeria Uno, a place my dad used to go when he lived in Chicago in his early twenties.

After lunch I went back down to the Chicago River and walked out to Navy Pier.

That was a lot for one day but I'm glad I took advantage of my free trip and did some exploring!
